The Institute of Applied Physiology at the Medical Faculty of Ulm University, Germany offers a

PhD position in Molecular & Cellular Neuroscience (f/m/d)

We offer an interdisciplinary research team with international collaborations, integrated in an exciting scientific environment. Within the International Graduate schools “CEMMA” and “Molecular Medicine” at Um University (IGradU), we analyze individual neurons displaying differential vulnerability to disease. We focus on the dopaminergic system and on Aging, Parkinson’s and Schizophrenia. Our methods deployed include state-of-the-art neuroscience techniques like high-end imaging & electrophysiology approaches, CRISPR/Cas9, and single-cell transcriptomics (further information: https://www.uni-ulm.de/med/angewphys/). 
As start-date, winter-term 2021 is envisioned, but a prior or later start is possible.
Salary is according to the German TV-L system. 
Applicants will hold an outstanding BSc / MSc degree or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, life science or a related subject, and are fluent in English. BSc degree holders will receive additional training within an MSc project, prior to getting enrolled in the PhD-program. Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, imaging, and/or circuit neuroscience are desired and of advantage. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated team workers and enthusiastic about science, with strong communication skills and diligent work ethics.
