The Institute of Applied Physiology at the Medical Faculty of Ulm University, Germany offers a
Laborleitung Immunhistochemie (wiss. Mitarbeiter), group leader (advanced Postdoc) in cellular Neuroscience (m/f/d)
We offer an interdisciplinary research team with international collaborations, integrated in an exciting scientific environment. Within the Research Training Program for cellular and molecular aging (CEMMA) and the SFB F-44, we analyze individual neurons and neuronal networks displaying differential vulnerability in aging and disease. We focus on Parkinson’s & Schizophrenia, the dopamine system, and ion channels & receptors. Methodologically, we combine state-of-the-art functional analysis (e.g. optogenetics, in vivo / in vitro electrophysiology, Ca2+ imaging, Seahorse), with high-end cell-specific molecular and immunohistochemistry techniques (e.g. tracing, confocal, STED, Multiphoton-Microscopy, RNAScope).
The successful applicant will get the opportunity to apply for own grants, and to build up his/her own independent line of research. The possibility for Habilitation is given. The position is offered initially for three years. Longer funding is possible and desired. Salary, benefits etc. are according to the German TV-L system.
Applicants are expected to be enthusiastic about science, with excellent degrees in neuro-, medical- or life-sciences. Team spirit, capability for independent, self-motivated work, and very good English-skills are required. Technical expertise in immunohistochemistry, protein biochemistry and microscopy/imaging, electrophysiology, as well as experience in student-supervision are highly desired. As our medical school teaching takes place in German, knowledge of the German language is of advantage.
