The Medical Faculty of Ulm University invites applications for a position of a

Junior Professorship (W1) for Prevention and Safeguarding in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry / Psychotherapy
(f/m/d) (without Tenure Track)

at the University Ulm, Medical Faculty in the Clinic Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy  
(Medical Director, Prof. Dr. Jörg M. Fegert).

The position holder is expected to represent the entire range of prevention and early intervention issues, but especially the area of safeguarding in child and adolescent psychiatric research and teaching. Furthermore, support for the design of new teaching formats, for example, in the context of the numerous e-learning programs of the department and their evaluation is expected. One focus of the clinic is research on psychological trauma. In this respect, close interdisciplinary cooperation is expected with the Center for Trauma Research, the Competence Center Child Abuse and Neglect, the Competence Area Mental Health Prevention in the Competence Network Preventive Medicine Baden-Württemberg and with other university working groups active in this topic area. Within the framework of the planned German Centers for Health Research, the clinic will take on focal points in the area of prevention and intervention, in connection with adverse childhood experience, coping in everyday life with chronic illnesses, and dealing with multiple forms of child maltreatment. Therefore, the research focus of the professorship will be especially on prevention options for adverse childhood experiences and/or in the conception of safeguarding measures in institutions. An already existing network of the position holder with international colleagues in trauma research is desirable and should be expanded within the framework of the professorship.

Employment is as a tempory civil servant or as an employee; as a rule, for a term of 6 years.

In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree in human medicine, psychology, other relevant social science disciplines, pedagogical aptitude, and a special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding qualification of a doctorate (§ 51 para. 2 LHG). Research experience in the abovementioned subject areas, including in various general as well as high-risk samples, is also central. Prior work in the area of biological trauma research is desirable.
