Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/d) (funded for 3 years)

to decipher the genetic, epigenetic but also metabolic underpinnings of heart disease but also regenerative cardiomyocyte proliferation in mice.

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated researcher (f/m/d), who will join our research team working on molecular pathways and networks that control heart development, growth and function in order to finally describe new targets for therapeutic intervention. The successful candidate (f/m/d) will particularly use established heart failure knockout mouse strains but also novel innovative and complementary models such as cardiac organoids. Moreover, novel knockout mouse models are to be established in this project. The development of own research ideas and scientific projects is highly appreciated and will be supported. The position is fully funded for 3 years by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (QuE-MRT-Initative).

We expect:
  • a PhD degree in biology, biochemistry or molecular medicine or a MD degree with significant laboratory work experience
  • knowledge of mouse physiology and experience in handling rodents (mice)
  • FELASA B or C, or Function A and B under Art. 23 para. 2 of Directive 2010/63/EU
  • experience with LAD or TAC as mouse model of cardiac disease (beneficial)
  • experience in molecular and cellular biology
  • excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and German (beneficial)
  • experience in writing animal experiment appeals (beneficial)
  • capability of working in a team as well as independently
