The Institute of Applied Physiology at the Medical Faculty of Ulm University, Germany offers a
M.Sc. / Ph.D. position in molecular & cellular neuroscience (f/m/d)

We offer an interdisciplinary research team with international collaborations, integrated in an exciting scientific environment.
Within the SFB F-44: “Cell signaling in chronic CNS disorders”, we analyze function and gene-expression of individual neurons displaying differential vulnerability to disease.
We focus on the dopaminergic system and on Aging, Parkinson’s and Schizophrenia. The methods deployed include state-of-the-art neuroscience techniques, for this project in particular high-end imaging and molecular techniques like CRISPR/Cas9 and single-cell transcriptomics. The start-date is flexible, salary according to the German TV-L system. The successful applicant can be embedded in the International Graduate School for Molecular Medicine (http://www.uni-ulm.de/einrichtungen/mm.html).

Applicants will hold an outstanding B.Sc. / M.Sc. or equivalent degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, life science or a related subject. B.Sc. applicants are required to carry out a M.Sc. project with us, prior to the Ph.D. Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, imaging-techniques, and/or circuit neuroscience are desired and of advantage. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated team workers and enthusiastic about science, with strong communication skills and diligent work ethics.
