Professorship (W3) for Molecular Human Genetics

at the Institute of Human Genetics (Director: Prof. Dr. R. Siebert) to be filled as soon as possible.

At the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ulm, a permanent W3 professorship without institute leadership (W3 oL) with a focus on Molecular Human Genetics is to be filled.

We are searching for an internationally renowned researcher in the field of molecular human genetics and the analysis of genetic and genomic data, who strengthens the activities of the Institute of Human Genetics of the University of Ulm in research, teaching as well as in daily patient care. The professorship is accompanied with the supervision of the Molecular Genetic Laboratory and / or the Clinical Genetics Outpatient Department.

The professorship is intended to support the molecular genetic research of the Institute of Human Genetics with regard to genetic modifications and variants as a functional cause for disease dispositions and manifestations, putatively in conjunction with environmental factors, as well as personalized diagnostics and therapeutic regimes. The future officeholder is expected to participate in the establishment and development of advanced genetic technologies and tools for data analysis in clinical genetics, as well as in the development of strategies for translating research results into clinical care. The integration into existing structural programs of the University of Ulm (including the Center for Rare Diseases, CRC/ Research Units, CCCU, Trauma Research) and the support of future applications is expected.

The selected candidate for the professorship will not only support teaching in the field of Molecular Human Genetics in various additional study programs with a focus on applied, technical and clinical aspects but ideally also develop new concepts in teaching independently.

Employment requirements are completed university studies, a doctoral degree, the habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements (in accordance with § 47 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg), experience in student teaching as well as a training as medical specialist in human genetics or an equivalent qualification.
