The Medical Faculty of Ulm University is seeking to fill the following position for the summer semester of 2027
Professor (W3) for Translational Pathophysiology in Traum and Acute Medicine management responsibilities
The research professorship, which includes the directorship of the corresponding institute, focuses on the pathophysiology and in acute medicine of various types of injuries. Key research areas include trauma-related consequences such as shock, sepsis, and organ failure e.g. of the lungs and the central nervous system. The research is expected to address molecular and cellular mechanisms and to develop therapeutic strategies derived from these insights, thereby bridging experimental basic research and clinical l research.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a relevant, internationally visible research profile as well as broad methodological expertise in clinically relevant experimental models, including both large and small animal models.
The professorship aims to strengthen the scientific profile of existing collaborative research networks (e.g. Trauma and Aging). Participation in new collaborative research initiatives and in the further development of the i3R Center Ulm is expected. The spatial integration of the institute into the new research building for Multidimensional Trauma Sciences (MTW) offers excellent opportunities for networking as well as access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities (including imaging and large- and small-animal ICUs).
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the study programs of the Medical Faculty. Active participation in the development and implementation of innovative teaching concepts is expected. The TTU Training Hospital provides unique teaching facilities to support these activities.
We expect outstanding publications in the above-mentioned research areas, a strong track record of independently acquired third-party funding, experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, for example through participation in collaborative research consortia and leadership experience.
Employment requirements are completed university studies in life sciences as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (ยง 47 LHG).
