W1-Junior Professorship with Tenure Track (m/f/d)

within the Faculty of Medicine’s key research areas ageing, neurosciences, oncology and trauma (open topic):
The University Medical Center Ulm seeks to strengthen its scientific profile by recruiting outstanding researchers; in particular, exceptional talent including from abroad is encouraged to apply.
Applicants should demonstrate an independent research profile, evidenced by high-impact publications and successful acquisition of external funding. and high-impact publications in basic and/or translational research. The research focus should align with the thematic areas of the Faculty of Medicine’s core research fields: aging, neurosciences, oncology, and trauma. Candidates are expected to be willing to collaborate in research networks of the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Ulm, as well as to help shape new collaborative initiatives.
In addition, active participation in the development and implementation of new teaching concepts for the Faculty of Medicine’s degree programs is expected.
Appointments are made as temporary civil servants or as employees, generally for a fixed term of 6 years. The combined duration of the doctoral studies and the employment phase should not exceed 6 years.
If the individual was employed as a research assistant before or after completing the doctoral degree, the combined duration of the doctoral studies and the period of employment should not exceed six years; in the field of medicine, this period should not exceed nine years. Extentions pursuant to Section 2(5), first sentence, items 1 and 3 through 5 of the Act on Fixed-Term Contracts in Academia (WissZeitVG) are not taken into account here. Section 2(3), first sentence , of the WissZeitVG applies accordingly
Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the appointee will be appointed to a tenured W3 professorship. The requirements for subsequent promotion to the W3 professorship are set forth in the University of Ulm’s Statutes on Quality Assurance in the Appointment and Evaluation of Tenure-Track Professors dated November 21, 2018, and the subject-specific requirements established for this professorship.
Requirements for appointment include a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, and a particular aptitude for scholarly work, which is generally demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctoral dissertation (§ 51(2) LHG).
