The Faculty of Medicine of Ulm University invites applications for a

Professorship (W3 Position) for Neurodegeneration (f/m/d)

at the Department for Neurology (Head: Professor Dr. A. Ludolph)

to be filled as soon as possible.


It is primarily expected that the applicant will lead the working group on ALS/MND in Ulm. We expect active collaboration in the German ALS/MND-Network.  
 
We are looking for a nationally and internationally highly recognized researcher (M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.) experienced in basic, translational and/or clinical research on ALS/MND. The focus of the ALS/MND group in Ulm is translational research which is facilitated by a well-established patient register, a focus on epidemiology (Swabia), bio- and gene banks, (epi)genetic and biomarker research, and an established clinical study center. The candidate will be interconnected with the site Ulm of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). It is expected that the applicant is willing to collaborate in interdisciplinary projects (animal models, biobanking and gene banking) on an international level but also in the medical faculty, with a focus on trauma research as established in the medical faculty. 
 
Teaching activities are expected within the Curricula of Medicine, Molecular Medicine and  Molecular and Translational Neurosciences at Ulm University with a focus on neurology and specifically on neurodegenerative diseases. We further look forward to the applicant’s participation in developing our curricula further especially with respect to new teaching concepts in light of the newly established training hospital “TTU”. 
 
Employment requirements are completed university studies of medicine or natural sciences as well as documented teaching activities, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (§ 47 LHG), desirable is a training as medical specialist in neurology.
